Shanxi University of Medicine

Shanxi University of Medicine is located in Fenyang City, Lüliang, Shanxi Province, with an additional campus in Xiaoyi. It is a full-time undergraduate institution registered with the Ministry of Education and a member of the China Higher Medical Education Council.

Founded in 1923 by the American Christian North China Mission, the university gained independent status in 2025 after a century of development. It is dedicated to training medical talents with solid knowledge and clinical skills, currently hosting nearly 10,000 full-time undergraduates.

The university's flagship programs include Clinical Medicine, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Science. Nursing has a long history, being one of only three advanced nursing schools in China at its founding, earning high reputation.

As a member of the China Higher Medical Education Council, it holds significant influence in medical education. Through deep cooperation with Shanxi Medical University, it jointly offers doctoral programs in Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, and master's programs in 20 specialties including Nursing and Human Anatomy.

The university comprises 9 teaching departments offering 15 undergraduate programs, covering Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Medical Imaging, and Medical Laboratory Science. It has 971 full-time faculty members, many with overseas experience, ensuring high-quality teaching.

The curriculum integrates theory with practice, exposing students to clinical settings early. Research is supported by advanced labs and a library with 868,000 print books and 1.3 million e-books. Joint research projects with Shanxi Medical University have yielded notable results in oncology and internal medicine, and students are encouraged to participate in scientific innovation.

The university has two campuses in Fenyang and Xiaoyi, covering 1,086.95 mu (about 72.5 hectares) with a total building area of 308,300 square meters. The campuses are green and pleasant, with modern teaching buildings, labs, a library, and sports facilities.

Student dormitories are comfortable, equipped with air conditioning and internet. Canteens offer diverse food options. Convenient transportation connects the two campuses, and students enjoy a vibrant campus life with various clubs and activities.
