Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is among the first batch of universities selected for the national "211 Project," "Double First-Class" initiative, and the "985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform." The university is jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Transport, among other ministries. The former Wuhan Transportation University originated from the National Maritime Vocational School established in 1946, was renamed Wuhan Transportation University in 1993, and was affiliated with the former Ministry of Communications. The former Wuhan Automotive Polytechnic University originated from the Wuhan Institute of Technology established in 1958, was renamed Wuhan Automotive Polytechnic University in 1995, and was affiliated with the former China National Automotive Industry Corporation. As of November 2024, WUT has three campuses: Mafangshan, Yujiatou, and Nanhu, covering an area of nearly 4,000 mu (about 267 hectares), with a total building area of 1,953,000 square meters. Its four modern libraries house over 4.16 million books. The university comprises 26 schools, offering 102 undergraduate programs. It has 23 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 45 first-level master's degree authorization points, and 21 postdoctoral research stations. Additionally, it offers 6 professional doctoral degree categories and 27 professional master's degree categories.
